Winnipeg, MB, December 8, 2011. An exquisite and rare dragon sculpture depicting Longwang "The King of Dragons" will be on display for a limited time at the new Swarovski by WK Chan Boutique in Polo Park.
The Limited Edition piece, featuring 66,219 hand-set Swarovski Crystals, was designed for Year of the Dragon 2012 by master craftsman Heinz Tabertshofer and required 490 hours to complete. The sculpture depicts a powerful Chinese dragon in full movement emerging from foaming waves encased in pure blue polished crystal.
"The Longwang Dragon is an incomparable masterpiece", declared David Chan, of WK Chan Jewellers. "The skillfully captured movement of a Chinese Dragon is beautifully complemented by the sparkle of sixty thousand hand-set Swarovski crystals. "It is the only piece of its kind in Winnipeg," continued Chan, We acquired if for a private collection but felt it was important to showcase to the public for a short while so everyone can enjoy it.
The dragon is a symbol of power and represents the concept of "Yang" (male) and the incarnation of the Emperor. It is depicted here in a unique base of foaming waves in polished crystal. The base is uniquely hand crafted showing various shades of blue representing the dragon's living environment, the sea. The dragon is traditionally regarded as a bringer of good luck and as a guardian. It is also the Chinese zodiac symbol representing success and happiness. Chinese New Year, the Year of the Dragon begins on January 23, 2012.
This exhibit will be on display at Swarovski by WK Chan on 2nd floor of Polo Park beginning Wednesday December 8, 2011 until the beginning of January.
